In Development
Georeference Your Photos: Inspired by Picasa Web Albums, this is an ArcGIS gadget for georeferencing your photos. Open a folder of photos, drag a photo to the map, and a new point is created. The photo is then stored directly in a file geodatabase.
Virtual Earth Viewer for ArcGIS: A fun project designed to leverage Microsoft's Virtual Earth from within ArcGIS. This toolbar allows users to see the same view they have open in ArcGIS in Microsoft's Virtual Earth using a Windows form application. Very handy for parcel level applications in areas where Virtual Earth has Pictometry data available.
National Hurricane Center Advisory Tool: This tool reads the latest information regarding hurricanes from the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and creates shapefiles representing the NHC's forecast track. Data is collected from RSS feeds and text files from the NHC.
(This product is not sanctioned by the National Hurricane Center.)
Completed Projects
Habitat Priority Planner: A screening tool for identifying optimal habitats for restoration. The tool uses widely available land cover data formats (MLRC or C-CAP) to first classify habitats. Users can then analyze data for connectivity, nearest neighbor and a host of custom analyses. Finally, as shown below, users can interrogate the data in a graphical manner.

N-SPECT: The Non-point Source Pollution and Erosion Comparison Tool
North Carolina Flood Inundation tool: This tool is explained in detail in the following paper presented at the 2003 ESRI conference. Recently, the Southeast River Forecast Center incorporated the methodology used in this project for a production Web site. The site was featured on the Weather Channel.

Scripts and many other internal ArcObjects toolsets including:
- Coastal Services Center Enterprise GIS Toolbar: This toolbar helps aid users in connecting to the Centers 3-tier SDE databases. Also allows users the quick and easy transfer of MXDs from one development tier to the next.
- Historical Hurricane Data Update Tool: A tool that ingests the National Hurricane Center's yearly best track information in order to create the data that runs the Historical Hurricane Tracker application.
Legislative Atlas: A site that allows users to view and query state and federal ocean legislation in one map. Awarded the 2007 Government Computer News Gala Award for outstanding use of information technology in government, and featured in ESRI's Federal GIS Connections.
Coastal Inundation Visualization Tool: A pilot project, this site displays near real time output from an ArcObjects-based dll. The dll uses SQL server to retrieve and store wave height and wave speed information garnered from buoys off shore. Then using 3D and Spatial Analyst, the dll calculates the expected area of inundation. The inundation polygons are then displayed in this map and appropriately labeled.
